I work for the
IS vakgroep as
a software engineer. My task is to realize large experimental
Projects I've worked on so far are:
a large parallel database machine.
For this project I designed an XRA (relational algebra language)
data structure and parser, a query optimizer and a Datalog like language
called PRISMAlog. In the final stages of the project I helped optimizing the
data managers and the result was for that moment one of the fastest database
the Object Oriented Data Models project. For this project I designed a
typechecker for the language
In a later stage of the project after ideas about implementing the language
had ripened I designed an interpreter for the language and implemented it.
This interpreter is called the TAM (Tm Abstract Machine).
For this project I created a graphical Database Design Tool for
the TM language. This (case)tool is used to specify databases in TM in a
user friendly graphical way. Even expressions are specified graphically.
MAGNUM. I'm am currently
working in a project to translate an NF2 kind of language to a BAT (binary)
algebra. This project is my first JAVA experience.
this project has not been started yet, but it is a research project on
high performance parallel transaction models.
A Software Artist ?
- Travelling and hiking. More information can be found on
my Travel Page.
- Motorcycles. After I got my motor drivers license I bought a very
old Yamaha XT600Z Teneree. After a year I decided I wanted something more
thrustworthy and I bought a new Honda NX650 Dominator all road motorcycle.
I already made my first long trip with it to the last Formula I races of
1997 in Jerez. I drove 6000 km in 2 weeks and I thought the NX650 was very
well suited for this kind of travelling.
I now am the proud owner of a Honda African Twin. With this I made a
three week journey to the Alps and Corsica in 2000.
- Wine, I'm lucky to live in an old house with a cellar which I'm using
as a wine cellar. A list of my wines for WWW is under construction. My
favorite wines are 'big' wines like Cote de Rotie, Pauillac, St. Estephe
and the Australian wines which are still reasonably priced here.
